Thank you for taking time to visit our website and to explore a little bit about our school. We hope that you have general understanding about the school and its mission. We provide a challenging environment for our students and therefore an abundance of opportunities for our teachers to find creative ways to use their talents and experiences. Moreover, and what is of greater significance, are the ministry opportunities that our teachers encounter throughout the school year. We consider all administration, teachers, and staff to be missionaries, ministering especially to the students, but also to the whole school community. In addition their ministry with the school community, teachers are expected to become an active member of a local church. We challenge students spiritually, socially, and academically to prepare them for future their education, and their life.

Although GCSD is a relatively new school, we have developed associations with other schools and organizations, such as College Board’s Advanced Placement section, that have enhanced the life of the school and its educational programs. Although we are certified with the Ministry of Education in the Republic of Korea, we are preparing to seek accreditation through ACSI [Association of Christian Schools International]. Therefore, all teachers must either hold a valid teaching credential or, at a minimum, hold a valid teaching certificate from ACSI.

Compensation is based on education and experience. Teaching contracts are cover one-two year period and compensation is paid monthly at the end of each month. Included is annual round trip airfare, housing, and medical insurance, all provided by the school. The school provides annually round airfare to your city [country] of residence. We provide attractive housing within close proximately of the school. At times our single teachers share larger apartments. Teachers are responsible for their utility and phone expenses. Utilities run approximately $100 each month; winter utilities expenses are higher due to heating fuel costs. Generally, with the purchase of phone cards, international calls are about $.05 USD a minute. DSL internet access is available at the school, so most teachers don’t purchase an internet service. We provide Korean national health insurance, which is valid only in Korea. Daegu has modern hospitals and many physicians were trained in the US or Canada. The city has a large retail market with many department stores and proprietary stores, generally all with reasonable prices. Finally, during vacations, most of the school’s teachers travel to other Asian countries.
