GCS History

Global Christian School was founded in 1996 by the late Pastor Joseph H. Song. Under God's grace, another GCS was established in Taegu in 1999. During this time, Pastor Song suffered much physical pain but he strived to follow the God-given vision. Pastor Song was a graduate of the University of Maryland-College Park and of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. At his passing he was working on an Ed.D. program in Christian Counseling from Trinity Theological Seminary in Indiana. Pastor Song's desire was to provide GCS students with a quality education and the opportunity to personally come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior. Pastor Song is survived by his wife, Chancellor Soonrahn Song (current chancellor), his daughters, Esther and Elaine, and his son, Daniel.

With the passing of Pastor Song, GCS needed a new Headmaster. Pastor Andy Tschong was called by God to take up the ministry begun by his brother-in-law, Pastor Joseph Song. Pastor Tschong was educated and ordained through the Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. He received further academic training through the Summer Institute of Linguistics and the University of Texas at Arlington and has both a Master of Theology degree in Old Testament and a Master of Arts in Linguistics. Currently, he is continuing his spiritual and academic growth as a Ph.D. student in Hebrew and Semitic Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

GCS is an international school which is fully accredited by the Ministry of Education, KOREA. It is also a member school of KORCOS (Korean Council of Overseas School), ACE(Accelerated Christian Education, USA), ACSI(Association of Christian School International, USA), and the AOP(Alpha omega Publication, USA).
